Playground Inspections

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 200,000 children are treated annually for playground equipment- related injuries. Of these, 74 % (or 148,000) involve public playground equipment. Many of these accidents could have been prevented.

Many playgrounds that are installed do not follow important playground safety guidelines established by the National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI). When playgrounds are not installed correctly, serious or fatal injuries can occur. More common though is old and dated equipment that was manufactured prior to the current guidelines. Older playground equipment although it may look safe, in many cases can be harmful or deadly for children.

Southern Minnesota Inspection offers playground safety inspections to make sure that your playground will meet or exceed all safety requirements, keeping your children safe and protecting your organization against litigation. Our playground inspection services will examine every part of your playground in detail. We document and We will provide you with a detailed report about any deficiencies.

The purpose of playground inspections is to keep the playground safe. Inspections limit your organizations liability by showing an effort to maintain your playground(s) area. Frequent inspections can be done by almost anyone but it is important to have periodic inspections done by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector as they can identify hazards and other environmental conditions that an untrained person may not know or be able to see. If any unfortunate events were to occur in your playground area, an inspection report on file provides documented proof that you were not negligent in the effort of continued playground safety.
